Ashevillemaps is part of a study of places, such as Asheville. An element of the research is inviting people to make maps -- maps of all sorts, from google maps to quick sketches -- and then asking them to talk about the places they've mapped. Through these conversations we will come closer to understanding each other's worlds and world-views. The value of holding (at least some of) these conversations in a blog is map makers and map viewers alike can comment upon and interpret each other's maps. In this way the project aims to be collaborative.
